Never before has a set of tire commercials touched my heart like this little anime, which is honestly a sentence I never thought I'd have to say. Road to You is an extremely effective set of commercials for winter tires, but furthermore it understands the principles of what goes into a truly great advertisement- you're not really selling the thing you're selling. These shorts are touching, emotional, and made possible by tires that can handle winter weather, even if they only seem to be in the frame by happenstance. As such, I'd say the story is the strongest aspect of this anime, as each episodeis touching and well-written and genuinely human in such a way that it doesn't even feel as though they were made primarily to be commercials. My favorite episode is episode 2, with the telescope on the girl's birthday, though each episode has got something special about it.

The art is a fantastic accompaniment to the story, and feels like a full-fledged, professional production- once again, it doesn't feel like a set of commercials. The color, animation quality, and emotive potency of each is commendable to be sure.

The sound is also good, meeting all the basic standards of quality for the time of its production, and with an emotional soundtrack that enhances the impact of each individual story.

The characters, while fleeting by nature, are good in their roles, and the anime does a good job of making you care for them and the events of their lives. Overall, Road to You is a commercial which doesn't feel like a commercial, which is the highest honor such a thing can earn. At the end of the day, it is still an ad, so I can only rate it so high, but given what it had to work with, it made a good impression. Fun idea- show this to your friends without any context and see if they can guess if it's a commercial for winter tires, or if they can even guess that it's a commercial at all.
