My review will be as short as possible and to the point. This anime is was great for me, being a person who has always had interest and invested time into the esports scene (playing competitively at tournaments) I felt this anime took a unique approach into bringing you into the realm of an esports player who was forced to retire for a year upon leaving his team. So what do people who invest their lively hood into gaming fall back to when they have to retire? From a reality perspective it'd be streaming, coaching, or maybe even going to school , but for thischaracter it's working at an internet cafe where he can continue his passion of playing games (Glory).

If you are looking for an anime that is a SAO clone this isn't it, but if you are interested in watching an anime that brings you into the perspective of an esports player and what truly makes these pro gamers so great then this anime is for you. From talking about high APM, to showing exceptional game knowledge prowess this anime does a great job of incorporating attributes a pro player needs to succeed in the esports environment. For those who have that competitive gamer nature in them I highly recommend you watch this, because for me it hit home and gave me that urge to want to play games competitively again, and to those who just want to watch a great gamer related anime then give this anime a shot.

************MAY CONTAIN A SLIGHT EP1 SPOILER DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THIS ANIME ALREADY UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND THIS SLIGHT SPOILER********************

Also to shed light onto the point that why was this "God" player forced to retire. In the esports scene you will always have to sign some sort of contract, and in this particular anime, he was forced out because the brand wanted a fresh face/ new talent to replace an old veteran which tends to happen all the time. So in order for "God" to not remain on the team as a training dummy he tells them to terminate his contract. From the legality standpoint of a gamers contract you are under their brand until the amount of time you signed on for is up, then you are free of that contract, but since he wasn't he had to agree that he'd retire in order for the brand to agree to release him of his contract, and in this anime a person that retires has to wait a year before they can return to the esports scene. This was the brands way of keeping this "God" player out of the competitive scene, but instead this only makes this "God" player with vast skill and knowledge reinvent himself and build hype around his character on the new 10 year Glory server.
