Review of Devilman: Crybaby
[spoiler warning] To be honest, I'm not really sure how to feel about this anime. I like the style, sound, the idea of the show and how it portrays the society problems. What I like about Devilman Crybaby: 1) The metafores and real-life problems that are shown in this show: war/ countries threatening each other, the difference between good and evil and if that even exists, the social influence (almost everyone follows the crowd, without even thinking). 2) I lovee the animation, from the character build and the effects in fight scenes. 3) I like the soundtrack and music in the anime, especially the rappers with their good bars. What i didnt like about Devilman Crybaby
1) The plot development doesn't make sense, as well as some of the connections between the characters. The rappers and Miki and Akira first had beef, then Miki becomes friends with them and Akira follows too?
Also, some things like Miko (actually the less popular Miki) had a thing with a rapper guy with braids, but he just died or disappeared? and in the next scene, there are two different rapper guys with braids, and one looks like him, that's a little confusing.
Miki got killed by the river, (the people who killed her chopped her body in pieces, put the pieces on large sticks and went to her house to swing around with the sticks; what is not shown on screen) and then Akira arrives.
2) I also feel like the show is rushed (especially in the end) and lacks some history.
3) the number of sex scenes that don't make sense at all (excluding the scenes in the nightclubs).
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching the show, but if the producers had put more time on it, these problems could have been prevented. Cuz I like the idea of the story very much, but how it is put together, mwah.
