Review of The Heroic Legend of Arslan
Story: Arslan Senki has decent enough story, nothing praise worthy though. it's simple but along the way it got weird. it isn't a good action and war anime, it's more like a drama that took warfare as it's background, if that makes sense. To watch it is to commit yourself to a long journey (25 eps), cuz there's little going on in each eps but the journey in each eps is pretty good and overall pretty enjoyable experience. Character: Boy oh boy, the main character is really naive and kind (stupidly kind) which is annoying. The anime try to portray Arslan as a wise and intelligentprince, but that's a lie. Arslan is pretty much useless, most of the time he's just there just to be there. And if you watch close, he is more like a puppet king to Narsus, yeah he's young whatever. But man it gets annoying,
Arslan: what should i do?
Narsus: we should..
Arslan: Yes.
He's doing whatever Narsus said, like c'mon do something on your own even if it's stupid. Which bring me to the second point, Arslan never really has a personal character development. He keeps saying I need to do something to help, then proceed to do almost nothing. Finally kind character are fine, but dude please just don't, there's a limit to kindness.
The main character is what ruins it for me, every eps is me hoping Arslan would stop and change his character, but alas it did not come.
Art & Sound:
No problem. all good
Overall:
Yeah it's pretty enjoyable, if you don't pay much attention to the character, the forced romance (potentialy), weird magic??, and moments like i cannot be shot because i have god's protection (Bitch please, if you can do that why even bother) then to proceed to get out of trouble. (at least hide the plot armor, talk about obvious shining gold plot armor). Well it's worth the try.
