I'm not usually the type to enjoy bls where the main pairing gets together quickly. I'm more like, slow-burn with some romance side stories type. But with this one? I kept being hooked no matter how many chapter I was in. I'm not even a person to review things yet this one left such an impression on me I don't think I can shut up about this. This one is a shounen-ai through and through, which surprisingly is what made it even better about this. Instead of focusing on their romantic development, instead it took its time with exploring how their relationship impacts them and thepeople around them. The manhwa truly shines with the way it establishes and develops its characters, all of them feel engaging in their own way and their distinctive personalities shine through everything they do. By the end of the manhwa, I don't think I can full-heartedly say that I disliked any of the characters, all of them are so- real in a way. Just people who make mistakes and change, the manhwa never tries to throw a villain character at you or make someone seem irredeemable.
It's a really light-hearted read that really warms your heart in certain moments. The jokes rarely missed and the amounts of fluff would make anyone tear up or grin like an idiot. It has its sad and dramatic moments but it never drags them out and always ends them in a way that leaves you feeling warm.
I don't think there's anything to be even said about the art, its beautiful. The art style is unique and every character is so animated in their scenes, sometimes Id look close into a panel just to see the characters interact in a funny way in the background which makes everything seem so alive.
For a more spoiler heavy bit:
As someone with struggles of similar type, I could truly relate to the way Ian felt about his mother. The way he wanted to run away yet truly unconditionally loved his mother and worried for her so much he'd go out of his way to keep up the illusion around himself, really struck a chord with me. The entire work really puts a lot of weight on their relationship, though it never shows Ians mother as a villain, rather a broken woman who can only live through her son. It's even better that the manhwa doesn't show running away as the answer, rather, it reaches a hopeful conclusion of their conflict that personally I was a huge fan of.
Kyungbin was definitely my favorite character out of the bunch and his relationship with Mirye was amazingly wholesome, while being amusing to no end. But, I would be writing this all-day if I went into details...
The ending in itself was amazing, not pulling any punches at throwing sentimental conversations at you. I teared up riding this and even remembering as I write is making my eyes wet.
If you ever feel sad, or you yourself have similar struggles to Ian, I can truly recommend this one without any doubt. And I'm really awaiting for the side stories to get translated
