I Killed Him was a gripping and engaging read for several reasons. Firstly, the art is great. The characters look lively and expressive, and the action scenes are easy to follow while still conveying tension and excitement. The case itself is interesting and well constructed, inviting you to connect the dots as new clues are revealed. The strongest aspect of this manhwa is its cast. The characters and the relationships between them are engaging and I found myself rooting for them to solve the mystery and grow closer along the way. Unlike in other crime stories that focus solely on the plot and treat characters as mere toolsto move it forward, the cast of I Killed Him feels genuinely alive. They have distinct personalities, personal struggles, and individual goals that influence the investigation and their relationships with one another. This makes them relatable and adds emotional depth to the story.

The comedy is also well done and character-driven, and together with the romance subplot, it made the reading experience even more enjoyable. Another refreshing aspect is that the protagonist isn’t a police officer but a lawyer, which brings a different perspective to the investigation and adds a fresh twist to the detective genre.

That said, I do have two criticisms (minor spoilers ahead):
As mentioned in another review, reusing the same plot device more than once feels unoriginal and gives the impression that the author may have run out of ideas.
The first half of the story is gripping and a real page-turner, but around the midpoint a time skip slows the pacing down. It takes a while for the tension to build up again afterward.

Despite these minor issues, I highly recommend this manhwa to fans of thrillers, mysteries, and detective stories. It’s surprisingly underrated and deserves far more attention than it gets!
