This is one of the first "production skill is seen as useless" series that has the guts to give an actual explanation for it. "It costs a metric truckload of mana to do even minor things" is a very good and strong explanation of why it's considered useless. Now as to why our MC has seemingly limitless mana, thus negating the main weak point of the skill and pushing him into OP territory? Yeah that might take a bit to answer. This is a frankly almost bog standard "useless production skill" series. The usual tropes are all there, sent to a far off village which is underattack, attack thwarted so all the villagers trust them, builds up the village insanely fast, gets a lordship of his own so his parents can't take the village away.
I won't spoil how these plot points come together, because despite it being somewhat trope-filled I actually do really enjoy the writing here. It's snappy and fun without being too over the top (mostly), there's some elements which are a bit silly but ultimately it's really nice. The isekai aspect of it all is well done, and it gives him a reason for being as good of a rule as he is in his relentless drive to educate himself (and Espadas' drive to ensure he does it). That combined with his knowledge from the previous worlds technology and architecture gives him a decent reason to make the decisions he does, even if they're somewhat standard for the subgenre.
There's a good range of side characters, in a very "one for everyone's tastes" way admittedly, and they're all written generally well if a bit "devoted body and soul" which can seem a tad silly at times but they give a decent reason for it.
It's a series that despite my eye rolls I couldn't really bring myself to put down until I'd finished it all. It's well written and fun, and that alone puts it above others quite well.
