Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

This anime is definitely a product of its time, with misogyny and toxic masculinity (but with dogs) rampant throughout the plot and story. A major theme that is prominent in the entire show is "being a real male." The misogyny isn't unbearably bad, but it does come up on occasion due to one of the main characters being female. The main cast seems to be a lot less misogynistic compared to some of the other characters. That being said, overall, these aspects don't make it unwatchable due to how charming the characters are written to be. The plot itself is well written and engaging. Theprotagonist, Gin (or Silver in English), is extremely easy to get attached to and root for throughout the story.

The show frequently depicts blood and, on rare occasions, gore (like decapitation, etc.), which is fitting for this teenage rating. The story starts out rather slowly and may not be the most engaging, at least in my experience, until around episodes 6-7 when they introduce dialogue for the dogs in the show. That is when the plot began to have much more action and exciting developments, as the show focuses way more on the interactions with the dogs in the show.
