Is this a Zombie? · review
...Why does this have such a high rating again? "Kore wa Zombie desu ka?" revolves around Ayumu, an extremely boring high school student (who's also zombie... and a "magikewl girl") who has a thing for ''the little sister type'', even making the girls call him ''Onii-chan''. From the very first page, the series leans into lolibait. Magical girl Haruna embodies the average "loli" trope (loud, obnoxious, and looks and ACTS like a child). There are multiple moments of her with unnecessary panty shots and her being completely nude. At one point, Ayumu even asks her to wear cat ears and a tail while without any otherclothes, which was completely unnecessary to the plot.
Eu is a ''cute'', quiet girl who doesn't speak. Despite Ayumu literally calling her ''the little girl'' in the 4th chapter, he develops feelings for her. Keep in mind that Eu looks like a 12-year-old, while Ayumu is a high-schooler. Ayumu also fantasizes about Eu in a questionable manner. Even if it's supposed to be portrayed humorously, it just comes across as predatory.
In addition to the borderline questionable moments, Ayumu is known to have a type for pigtails on girls. There's a moment where a little girl is literally told to put her hair in pigtails to appeal to Ayumu more. Using comedy as an excuse to deliver these unnecessary and predatory scenes is just appalling. And the thing is, the actual ''humor'' in this manga is repetitive and irritating. The whole ''Ayumu, you creep! Perv! Die!'' thing just gets tiring.
Overall, I think that if you *do* want to read something funny, you should look for something else. "Kore wa Zombie desu ka?" tries to be funny but it fails miserably. The "comedy" comes off more as an excuse to put these characters in questionable situations, knowing that they can use the justification that ''they don't technically have an age, so that means it's okay''.
