9 /10

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." These were the only words i could think when I came to the final page of the last volume of Detroit Metal City. It's main story revolving around my favorite genre of music (metal) would be enough to keep my interest all the way through, but it's constant humor (dark humor is most predominant) made me want to read this story all the way through. Story 9/10 Antics involving The band DMC (mostly their singer) and the die-hard fans kept me turning the pages. Art 7/10 You're basic manga art.Characters 10/10
The main characters constant struggle between his dark side and socially accepted side was the main character portrayal in this manga. Not much character development happens.

Enjoyment 10/10
The only reason I enjoyed this so much was because I'm a fan of both metal music and dark humor. If you don't like at least one you're probably not going to have a good time reading this manga.

Overall 9/10
