Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventurer! · review
Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventurer! Is a nice surprise for this season! We follow our hero Lloyd who has been trained since childhood to be unstoppable, he's grown capable of doing magic without incantations (such an unoriginal trope by this point) yet he's also a meek insecure pushover because he's incapable of understanding his power even when an entire town hails him as the hero. He's bland and kind of unlikable even when he's being heroic, I guess he's a very hollow preset MC that's there for the male viewer to subconsciously self-insert, but overall I warmed up to Lloyd by the end. Fanserviceis there but it's tame which is always appreciated.
This anime copied the exact same trope I saw last season, where our hero is in a support role but is bullied and under-appreciated by his team, but very appreciated by a second team who can see his immense power, it isn't doing anything new there, but the cast is likeable if a little one-dimensional.
For 2025, the animation is bad but not terrible, the sound design is pretty basic too. Low budget vibe, this honestly doesn’t bother since the ending delivers, I love how Lloyd's background and master take more relevance as the story progresses and how his absurd level of power is explained in a satisfying way, the story moves very fast and it suffers those cut corners, but the author achieves a self-contained closure with an interesting twist related to the nature of magic and meddling with things beyond human control.
