This energetic romp does a good job in the early episodes balancing light-hearted fun with heavier subject matter. However, it becomes incredibly weighed down in the final segments. It suffers from a very shallow cast of one-and-two dimensional characters whose motivations can often be dubious at best, which becomes more noticeable as time goes on and the characters (and their relationships) never really change dynamic. It also is saddled with what I'd consider to be one of the most out-of-place, forced, manufactured "crises of faith" I've ever seen in an anime. In the end, the best word to describe the series is "decent".
