I had SnF on my list for a while now, getting into anime has been getting harder lately because of the slop fiesta, but I thought I can't go wrong with this one being so critically acclaimed. Now tell me why I was scratching my head for three episodes straight, when knowing I was supposed to be overwlemed with the feels but feeling nothing. The show is mid, to be blunt, the world looks generic, the art is generic, the music is generic, the story is boring, the characters are boring, seriously, the poster child for boring. And I know SOL, I love SOL, but I havebeen of the opinion that writing a slice of life is one of the hardest genre to nail, because it takes a collaboration on the level of illustration, music, perfect timing and overall vibes, watch Natsume's book of friends, or Mushishi and come back to me, NOW that is a show about a journey, that's heartbreak, that's awe, that's slice of life, still but moving, it's subtle and symbolic, uses nature sounds, INCREDIBLE, OSTs, silence, space for the viewers to interpret intentions, not every episode ends in resolution, there's ambiguity, show don't tell, character chemistry, that's how an incredible SOL is made, not whatever SnF is...

I think new anime fans are going to gobble up everything they see because they are novice in their watchings, they will not recognize deep good writing, still have rudimentary taste, a SOL journey has been done so many times, you just need to re-dig the older shows, luckily for you, they are not even that old, they hold up to scrutiny, and they certainly deliver better than the 2020s slop fiesta we have been having.

But I've been watching anime for 15 years man, I cannot afford shows resetting to accommodate the new comers...This is tragic.
