Review of The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?
Getting the obvious out of the way, isekai treatment animation. Not only that , but i skimmed through the damn manga and i gotta say, this studio took an obscene ammount of liberties. Although the fights are just slightly better in most cases. The story... well, it's hardly anything special, but to pass the time you could pick out much worse. It would've been far more intresting if they kept him poor and had him struggle with finances for at least half of this show, and made it a contrast between his skill as a magician and how he lives in squalor and stuff. Since the animealso skips through plenty of detail,i can't figure how much it affects the characters since im not invested enough to read the whole story after watching most of it. But in this show, they are very undeveloped. Same goes for the world. We aren't shown most of the fighting, like the whole monster extermination, the magic system is just barely there ...... There's honestly not much to speak about, since the anime focuses mostly on the yapping to maximize that 5 dollar budget they had for the animators. And the obvious lack of intrest in anything isekai these studios seem to display. That being said, i honestly found some funny moments among the ruins of this show. Other then that, it was mostly stuff about nobles, the occasional poorly animated fight, random time skips that were poorly displayed....and that's about it.
I can hardly recommend this unless you really don't have anything better to watch. And you have to choose between this and Paralell World Pharmachy
