Review of Nisekoi: False Love
Even though this show has been branded as a generic harem anime, I really enjoyed it because of the focus of the show. In too many harem anime, the MC is portrayed as some Jesus figure who is good at everything and is the main obsession of the girls in the show. However, Nisekoi does something special by having the girls be the main characters, and the guy a reflection of what they value in a person. Even though it is kinda uncomfortable to have all these attractive girls like one guy, it never becomes creepy because the reason they like him is not becausehe is good at everything, rather it's because of their specific characterizations. Each girl likes him for separate reasons, due to the fact that all of them approach their relationship differently, but the reasons are consistent enough with a single personality that it never feels as though their view of him is disjointed.
(This is for the manga, Definitely read it.)
I also really enjoy how they chose the final girl that the guy wanted to be with, as it paints a complex portrayal of what love actually is, namely not something that is felt but something that one deliberately chooses so that their partner can be happy. However, I am not giving this anime a 10 simply because it didn't make me as emotional as other shows that I have watched.
