Review of Akira

I understand that for the time in which it was made - it was a revolutionary piece of film and art. So many risks were made in terms of visual storytelling and sound design and it is incredible. However, for the hype it has as "potentially the greatest anime film of all time", I didn't feel it lived up to this. I personally didn't fully get the allegory as much as I do know the context and it took me a couple attempts to finish it. Super cool sound design / score and visuals but generally a little bit of a let down.
