Review of Hyouka
*Spoiler Free Review* Overall: 6/10 I had decent expectations for the show since some of the reviews had a 9/10 and an average score of 8.1/10, and I'm just disappointed. This show isn't for me or any average viewer, this anime is meant for those who like mystery anime. Main problem is that the Hyouka's only crutch is it being a mystery, usually mystery anime have other genres like action, drama, horror, romance, or thriller included so that it could "hook in" viewers who aren't really interested in mysteries only.Story: 6/10
The main gist of the story is that the Classic Literature Club goes around and solve mysteries. From a person who likes mysteries the story would probably be 7/10 or a 8/10, since the mysteries are very well made, but for your average viewer it would be 6/10.
Like I mentioned earlier, the main problem of Hyouka is that the only crutch it has that its a mystery anime, the mysteries themselves are well made but it's not enough to keep your average viewer interested, and the mysteries aren't grand or something that leads to a bigger thing.
If your not a mystery fan its a 6/10, but if you are a 7/10 or 8/10.
Art: 8/10
Animation and art looks great, what else can I say?
Sound: 7/10
The opening song is good but not something I'd go out of my way to listen to, the rest of the soundtrack and sound design are just above average.
Characters: 6/10
Each character in the Classic Literature Club serves a role, Oreki the solver, Chitanda the instigator, Fukube the source of information, and Ibara just feels like she's just there for the sake of being and there and filler for a 4th character because having only 3 main characters in this anime would be way too small.
Sometimes they do something different and perform another role but that's generally the roles the main characters play.
None of the characters fall under a trope or cliche but oh boy are they uninteresting as hell.
Most of the characters are likable, and while they do have some flaws, it's not pointed out by the story and not used to further make major developments with the characters.
Enjoyment: 6/10
There's barely any comedy, enjoyed the scarce fanservice, and nothing intense, exciting, or romantic happened that kept me standing from my seat.
