Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
TL;DR: One of the greatest animated series ever made. Lovable characters, awesome mech battles, and social commentary on loneliness, escapism, love, and our shared human condition. NGE lures you in with the cool mecha battles but hits you right in the feels. An icon that will persist through generations. 10/10 I found Neon Genesis Evangelion at a really important time in my life, I found myself relating strongly to the struggles of the main characters. At its core, Evangelion is not just another mecha anime, or even about the characters. It's really about us, how we live our lives and how we choose toendure in an often cold and cruel world. Evangelion presents us with a Nietzschean choice: Embrace the world wholeheartedly, with its faults and all, and reach out warmly to others even when it gets hard or retreat into fear, hatred, and hollow escapism.
I think the ending of the anime is in some ways better than The End of Evangelion. A lot more explicitly hopeful and helped me work through a lot of personal issues I had tried to ignore.
Evangelion is a really important anime. 10/10 would strongly reccomend.
