Review of Gintama

I'm a real sucker for it when it comes to quality comedy that comes with some action and Gintama is just pure perfect for someone like me. The storyline of Gintama is pretty slow going (especially at the beginning) with it mainly being episodic and having many short arcs (which shows a kind of plot gradually) and when it gets serious, it's action is, well decent. 9/10 Watching this anime will mean that you will need LOTS of time but it is definitely worth it, depending on your cup of tea. I've never failed to laugh at it and it trolls you a few times(in a good way). This anime has it's unique and snarky, foolish, twisted and insane parts to it but also has many moving moments- it is willing to play un-safe and 'thinks' outside of the box. The thing about Gintama is that for some people you may be down about something and the next second, start laughing. One thing about Gintama is that it is a parody show so it's best to watch quite a few anime first to understand it's references. (Anime is only one part though)
GENERAL: The art of this anime doesn't put me off or anything like that so I decided to give it a 8/10 and is pretty distinctive.
Most of the opening and endings are Ok in my opinion, though pretty generic. One thing really good about the sounds is of course the major part in this category, voice acting. It is really realistic and at the same time exaggerated, done in a way that is plenty better than other animes. The choices of the voice acting also fits the characters' role a lot which is a bonus so I will give it a 10/10 on that.
The characters, as the show goes on develops and you can see why for the reason of them to act the way they are and what 'defines' them. They are interesting in their own ways but also share similarities to some of the other characters as well and there's just this thing where you can relate to. The design is notable and are made so that you can at times connect to them (not literally). You can hardly hate any of the characters though in my case I dislike 2 only so I will give it a rate of 9/10.
The enjoyment it gave me is rememberable and done almost perfectly as this anime will always remain in one of my favourite comedy anime. I appreciate it better if more people give it a chance and don't drop it. 9/10 :D

CONS: For a long running anime it has a decent amount of laughs to it for me though a few episodes may have been kind of boring (mainly the beginning) and some of the jokes are made too repetitively and are stuck to over and over again in an episode, and over-used 'poop' and 'sex-references' jokes. One of the thing that troubles me is the few appearances of Amanto in the series but other than that, it's enjoyable and did it's best so a 8/10.
