Full disclosure: this was my first anime and manga, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. Though this has a lot of trait of your typical magical girl show, I do believe this anime is an especially good one. The amount of development to the characters and relevant yet somewhat unique plot (at least, the specifics of it are fairly unique) make it worth a watch. Some definite cons are the occasionally sub-par artwork and the occasional filler episode that just doesn't seem relevant. However, the filler episodes (53 episodes out of 7 books is impressive) serve to fill out the characters andmake this more than just another Sailor Moon rip-off.

Bottom line: give it a shot!
