Review of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
This movie is a rarity in media. There are a lot of stories where some fans would say "oh it gets good at the end, you just need to get through the first many hours to get to the good part". This movie is the one where it's true. The 2nd season is infamous for the 8 "Endless Eight" episodes and the anime seasons themselves have its weird 2009 rerelease episode order. Any other anime (including this before the movie released) would be absolutely ridiculed for what Endless Eight was. But, what are considered the 8 worst episodes of the 2nd season, are possibly themost important episodes for this movie. You have to be a certain type of weird to appreciate Endless Eight, me being one of them as the 8 episodes are a unique experience, but by keeping it up and watching all 3 hours, your appreciation for the movie could be greatly increased. The 28 episodes are one of the most unique story developments of an anime I have seen, culminating into a movie where almost nothing is held back to make sure the time was well spent.
