Review of High School of the Dead

So, what can I say about this anime? Let's start with the positives. The art and animation were great. The soundtrack was pretty good too, it didn't stand out much, but it was fitting. I liked the main character Takashi, and his voice actor Junichi Suwabe delivered as always. The fight scenes were pretty cool, and many scenes felt very intense and engaging. However... There are some negatives too. As a straight woman I didn't care much for all the panties and boobs, but it's my own fault for choosing an anime like this, which is obviously meant for a different demographic. It felt rather ridiculousat times. I also think they wasted many opportunities, since several characters got close to each other sometimes but nothing happened. Many scenes were very gory and violent as well, which is also something to be expected from this genre and theme.

There isn't really an ending to this anime either. I suspect they planned on making another season, but didn't for different reasons. So there is no conclusion in the end, nor any real development in the relationships between the characters.

Overall I enjoyed the intensity of the plot, having zombies everywhere really created a sense of danger which kept me on the edge of my seat. If you enjoy good art, lots of gore, panties, boobs and guns, then you will probably enjoy this anime. Just don't expect any actual... um... well... "action" between characters, like kisses and such, because there isn't any.
