This donghua is an intriguing blend of ambition, court politics, betrayal, redemption, and survival. The story is well-constructed, and the visuals really fit the narration; it's dark, somber, and ominous. Its not unique but the presentation is good enough. The animation quality is good for 2D, and the fight scenes are striking and bloody. The characters are well-developed and the dialogues are deep and piercing. I really like the characters and the whole vibe of the show—they complement each other perfectly, being both dark and brutal. I really liked the first season, the whole narrative and the mood made me curious. Give it a go! It's worth watching.
