Review of Redo of Healer
I find it very frustrating that people are rating animes based on their feelings not based on facts. There are lots of great animes with a plot may some people find uncomfortable but just because the plot or the art is beyond these peoples' pink bubble / comfort zone it is not necessary that these animes are bad. This is the case with Redo of Healer. I's an amazing anti-hero, revenge borderline anime with a more than OK story and characters, great animations, amazing voice acting and overall sound work. SPOILER: Some people write in their reviews that it's about rape and suff and they can't sympathizewith the MC...
He's not a hero, not a typical MC, the guy was raped, gangraped, beaten up, humiliated in various ways... they even made him a drug addict.
He is more broken than a windshield after a car crash. A normal human being would just want to die after such atrocities or just want to see the world burn around them. But here the MC is still have a little humanity and this little light that you can see in the dramatic scenes is the greatest thing in this piece of gem.
Even after he was thrown in hell he has his moral compass --- a twisted one yes, but it's still there and it makes the show even more enjoyable. Not to mention the "don't have tears" line and it's meaning.
They did an amazing work with these dramatic lines and where they showed that a damaged mind can still cherish a good relationship with others.
I think people are just not empathic enough or they find the plot way too much in a world where they only see pain in the television. Just because you don't look at it, it is still there.
"You can do cruel things to other people because you don't understand other people's pain."
I watched the uncensored version and the natural representation of the fights, the tortures and the sex scenes were amazing. Nice to see a publisher with balls and nice to see an anime dancing on the thin rope between anime and hentai.
The characters are well written. The facial expressions looks normal (if i can say "normal" regarding this anime :D ) . The punishments are also intelligent, not just thrown in fillers in the story.
Someone said that Redo of Healer is The Rising of The Shield Hero on drugs and i was like ... "heck i have to check it". Sure thing it was not a mistake.
If your guts can handle violent and sexual scenes and you're into revenge stories this one is hands down one of the best if not the best.
It's not for everyone. It's mature as heck not just by look but the meaning behind it.
