Review of Spy x Family Season 2

Having been hooked since S1, and with such an intriguing cast, SpyxFamily was always set up for success. In this new season, Anya is as adorable as ever, Yor continues to be a sweet and sexy assassin-wife, Loid retains the mantle of perfect man-spy, and Bond is still best boy. As with most popular shows, mixed in with fast-paced progression and sudden plot twists, there needs to be quieter moments and lulls in the story. This change of tone is seen in season 2. If I were to describe it metaphorically: if the first season was the plunging exhilaration of going forward on a swing, this season is the more subdued, reeling glee of going backwards before swinging again. Season 2 has it's fair share of action, but focuses more on quiet moments and small details between characters that some may find to be insignificant or boring, but that I personally found charming and sweet.

Having read the manga, the adaptation was faithful. But don't expect it to blow your mind with any dramatic twists or changes to the story. This season focuses more on slice of life and heartwarming moments, whilst still reminding you of the extreme physical and mental capabilities of our main cast.
It's still an enjoyable mix of stories featuring well-animated scenes of a charismatic cast; definitely recommend.
