Review of KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 3 feels like a departure from the first 2 seasons and the movie. I wanted to enjoy it, and I'm a huge fan of s1, s2, and the movie, but this season is lost on me. The comedy is still there, and is good enough, but the party dynamic of Megumin, Kazuha, Darkness and Aqua is gone. They are separated most of the season, and you can feel it. After the end of the movie, I was sure this season would move forward in a love angle, and granted it does, slightly, but it failsto land a grand emotional hook when it has a chance to deliver it. I was very disappointed that the spot to do so was not taken, especially since this season the characters are not out in the world, they are recluse, so now would be the time to land a romantic angle. I'll still watch a s4 if they do one, but going forward, I think the party needs to be together, that is when they are best.
Animation 8/10
- Great animation, great detail, unfortunately they don't do much in the world though.
Sound 9/10
- Great OP/ED, great VA and sound design throughout.
Story 2/10
- Not good, there is a minor plot for Darkness, but it is a very shallow plot, with very little reward.
Characters 6/10
- I love Darkness and Kazuma, but everyone else feels insignificant throughout. The group itself is almost never together, and it feels weird to me having a great cast on the screen 1 at a time or 2 at a time.
Enjoyment 7/10
- I didn't feel a lot of motivation to watch it ASAP, in fact, only finished it July 20, which is different from my experiences with s1 and s2, where I binged both with excitement to do so. That being said, there was enough fun to be had to enjoy the cast again.
I would still recommend it to those familiar with the series, but at the same time, I feel you could just wait until a new movie or season comes out to binge together with this, because this season feels scarce.
