Dandadan’s opening left a really strong impression on me prior to the show being released - character design felt extremely fresh and the efforts put into A/V production were there to be seen. Moving into its initial preview however, it looked like I was about to sign up for a weird setup where Mob Psycho meets Tokyo Ghoul which regretfully had me put the show on-hold for a long while. As it turns out, Dandadan goes above and beyond and, if anything, it can be put at fault for not running longer. There is also something to be said about fan service being tied to plotdevelopment at times.

With that aside: let’s talk characters! From the main to the supporting cast, everyone is brimming with personality. Even the one-offs when brought to screen give a strong impression. The Momo & Okarun pairing is all over the place in a nice way, leaving a very subtle pathway to character development which feels unique to their story.

Production is sublime and once again mixes hints of subtlety with very on-the-nose efforts. Dialogue being fast-paced somehow highlights writing and lets the extremely talented VA shine, while the efforts put into world building can be seen from every combat situation to the costume switches.

If you’re on the fence regarding watching it, the one thing to take from this review is that whatever is holding you back most likely pales in comparison to everything else this title offers. While some of these words may feel generic, as far as Dandadan goes, what you see is what you get - so if you like it, go ahead.
