Angel Beats! Specials · review
Thank God the original creator Jun Maeda and the main director Seiji Kishi didn’t take part in making the second OVA. Angel Beats is my favorite anime, so when I first watched that episode, I was shocked by how terrible it was. The events in this episode feel incredibly forced and illogical, especially in the characters’ thoughts and actions. Their personalities are portrayed inaccurately, making them feel completely unfamiliar to me. The content itself is dull, irritating, and carries a submissive, awkward tone that’s simply unacceptable. But if it has nothing to do with the original creators, then I can relax and pretend it neverexisted. By the way, episode 1 is really good and stays true to the spirit of Angel Beats, preserving its essence perfectly.
