JJK is one of those anime that hits hard when it hits. It awakens things anime viewers think are long dead, that passion to keep continuing to think about the anime and the plot when no episodes are airing and it's one of those anime that you cannot forget. Season 1 was not exactly ground breaking. The manga itself apparently was in danger of being axed and so Gege had to add some suspense to it. JJK was struggling to break through mediocrity and avoid being canceled, and this move by Gege was successful. The story progressed well and season 1 stood out as a goodstarting point for this anime.

Little did anybody know what season 2 had next.

Season 2 is where JJK goes from mediocre to memorable. Hidden Inventory arc is still the best arc in the entire manga and the anime did it justice. The animations are amazing, there are cracks here and there but nowhere near the amount people online seem to complain about. The story is so good that the side characters become more beloved than the main ones. This arc alone made Gojo Satoru one of the most iconic anime characters I'd say of all times. A lot of shock, death, frenzy amidst chaos but also a relief in all the suffering. This is what makes JJK truly entertaining. There's a lot of love and detail put in each and every scene of this arc. It just hits right.

Shibuya arc which comes after is the one that came a bit under criticism from a writing point which in a way I agree, however, the anime in my opinion made it ten times better than it should've been. A lot of anime only scenes elevate this arc. This arc includes some of the best fighting scenes in all of anime. MAPPA got the cream of the crop of animators, a lot of extremely well choreographed fights, smooth and heavy feeling punches, kicks, good camera angles, it's like those old times where you would watch Naruto weekly and see hand to hand combat, seeing such scenes still exist in a world of anime with recycled content shows that the days of good anime are not over. I'd say it's so good even if you understood nothing about JJK you would still be flabbergasted at what MAPPA achieved this season.

I consider a good anime an anime that makes me obsessed. I quit watching anime for more than half a decade - JJK was one of the few anime that caught my attention and made me obsessed again. Listening to the OST, seeing fan arts, that type of love is back again!

There is no way after watching season you can abstain from reading the manga further. This season has a lot of love put into it, and Gege has done an outstanding job reviving that shonen manga passion again.
