Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

The precursor to magaka Katsuran Hoshino's work D.Gray-Man. You can 100% tell this was the base of D.Gray-Man. The main character is a girl named Robin and the story is set in Osaka. Similarly to D.Gray-Man, Robin is a young exorcist with a strange arm and scarred eye. She goes to japan to return her masters ancient relic. She ends up getting into trouble with a local restaurant for eating food and scaring away costumers. They put her to work to pay off this debt. She bonds with the other girl that works there and finds that her fiancé died on the same wreck thatRobin's sister died on. Thing go south and this beta version of the Millennium Earl shows up to take advantage of her grief.

The art and story are average and some of the panelling feel messy. In D.Gray-Man you can see how refined this one shot becomes. This one shot is average at best for an old 2000s Jump one shot. It is impressive to look back on this piece and realize how Katsuran Hoshino has improved. Overall this one shot is average at best. You can see that a lot ideas and concepts were crammed in. Unfortunately it is a one shot and it is hard to convey all the things Katsuran Hoshino clearly wants to write about in less than 40 pages. This one shot throws you in without really explaining anything and tries to show off all of Katsuran Hoshino concepts. It feels like a good beginning for building off of.
