The art is solid but lacks the borderline-showoff showpieces found in OPM, and the small and mono-gender cast means there's little variety in character design. It's the kind of action-oriented, simply structured military story pretty much any shounen or seinen creator could crank out; there's just nothing about it that makes it a stand-out. It's not that it's a BAD oneshot, but Murata sets the bar so high that Minds feels lackluster in comparison to basically anything else he's produced.
