Tsuki ga Kirei is an anime that does nothing special. This may sound like a damning indictment, but then why have you given it a ten? For the simple reason that by not trying to overextend itself this anime manages to do nearly everything it tries with perfection. This is a love story that could be told to anyone anywhere and they would be able to relate in some way, almost like a modern day fairytale. Story: 10 The story for Tsuki ga Kirei takes the generic tale of two students in Japan but fills it with characters that the show will make you love and hate. The progression is not the blistering pace of some anime but is also not the snail's crawl of others, it has a perfect pacing. The main obstacles are very clearly set out and each character's motivation is always well conveyed and relatable.

Art: 7
The art for this show has one major detraction, the characters in the background are often CGI'd in and it is VERY obvious. Unfortunately, this can ruin some of the background art which is always very picturesque. The characters who are not CGI abominations are very stylised but this works really well with the aesthetic the show is trying to go for.

Sound: 8
The sound for this show is very good, my main praise has to be for the sound effects which all seem to mesh with the art style to create a stylised world. The line sound effect will make you check your phone at least once. All the characters fit their voice actors and the music is very good at setting the mood that they want.

Character: 10
The characters of Tsuki ga Kirei is where it stands out. These characters feel very real and it is the little details in what they do that helps to flesh this out. Whenever the main boy is excited he will start boxing with the light cord dangling from his ceiling. It is small details like this that raise your immersion into this world and this anime has it in droves.

Enjoyment: 10
Tsuki ga Kirei is not the most action packed anime, it does not get you pumped up or excited. Instead, it keeps up enjoyment by giving you a believable couple that you want to root for. It gives you an MC who is not incompetent in everything they do who you want to succeed. It gives you a leading girl who is not just waiting for MC to do everything for her but is her own character with a motivation of her own. At the end of each episode you can't help but want to know more, you can't help but want to know what happens to these two.

Overall: 10
In media it is very easy to take the emotions of someone and force them to be something. Kill the main character and that is sad. The main character gets what they want and you play uplifting music and that is happy. Tsuki ga Kirei instead tells its story and lets you decide how to feel about that, you can put yourself in the shoes of most none background characters in this show and understand how they feel. If you don't like romance anime then you won't like this one but if you do like it then this is a must watch.
