Review of Ping Pong the Animation

i cannot overstate just how much i love this show. i think it's the epitome of a modern masterpiece. sports and anime are such a match made in genre pairing heaven. the animation style is so distinct and unique. the stories elegant and nuanced. sports streamline so much of the necessary pretension of the medium into something comprehensible and immediate. while i think they could've pushed the character development into something slightly more unique areas, it is such a trivial concern it barely impacted my enjoyment of the series. a high watermark in contemporary anime. it's wild to consider it's as old as it is(7 years at the time of writing).
