Review of Gintama

Well this is my first review so...if there is anything you find uncomplete, untrue, please comment. Story: 9 Despite some people might think, Gintama has a PLOT. The only thing is that there is too many obscure foreshadowing that it is difficult to see it though the first time. Some episodes which you might think as random fillers (which by the way are extremely rare in Gintama) can be important for the plot. Gintama has all kind of stories, funny ones, sad ones, scary ones. It is because of the way which Gintama presents his stories Art: 8 Gintama began in 2006, and if you watch typical 2006animes, you might find that the graphic level of gintama is technically ok comparing to Fate Stay Night or Black lagoon season 2 which are also aired in the same year. The art of Gintama is not as detailed as many animes that you may be watching Akame ga Kill, Tokyo ghoul but it had pretty original art for 2006.

Sound: 9
A good part of Gintama's success is thanks to the voice actors. They are the best! Unfortunately, since season 3, the background music will sometimes fall off and isn't really matching the scene.

Character: 10
Original characters. There is no other anime who has a glass which wears a human. All the characters are somehow special. Despite a few of the main characters are rip-offs/parody from japanese historical, all the characters are enjoyable and are very original (even though they are rip-offs).

Well some might ask how come over is 10 while story, sound and art aren't 10. The answer is simple: if I had to rate my enjoyment, it would be 12 out of 10. Once you have a certain understanding and knowledge about japanese culture, I can swear to you that you can't stop laughing every episode. It is true that most of the jokes are too "japanese" and without any japanese culture understanding, it is hard to understand. In these cases, I recommend you to search for a sub which explains the jokes.

This anime may show inappropriate scenes but it is highly sophisticated. It is normal if you don't understand a good number of jokes. Continue anyway and by the time you know more about Japan, you'll know how awesome this anime is.
