Review of Devilman: Crybaby

Reviews if you don't have time. *SPOILER-FREE* When Netflix announces a show there is always, in the people’s minds, a huge question: will it be any good. This because companies that were not really created into the anime sphere and stream mainstream series and shows, when it comes time to jump on the train, fail the footing, producing shows that are not really that good. Lucky, this wasn’t the case of “Devilman: Crybaby” an alternative version of the “Devilman” series of 1972, with a brand-new look given by studio Science SARU. It is true that when you are sizing up with a show that aired in 1972, everythingseems a lot better and improved. However, despite that, “Devilman: Crybaby” was able to be a breath of fresh air and have amazing animation even by 2018 standards. The way the backgrounds, scenery and action unfolds are very chaotic and packed which helps a lot setting up the atmosphere of some scenes and places. The characters are very well done and are unique as well as the fights between them.

If there was something that I would like to highlight in the more writing part of the show is its pace, the way the story, decisions and actions unfold truly were different from what you might normally receive in many shows. It is true that the plot itself and the characters are not the most intricate and amazingly written but it makes it up by throwing action and fast paced storytelling, that almost makes you forget it.

Overall, it is not a show for everyone since the art-style and pace might be a bit displeasing for many people. But, if you are looking for a different show with good action, gory and explicit animation and awesome music you might want to give it a try.
