The disastrous life of Saiki K is a hilarious and genius slice of life supernatural comedy. As I've stated before reviewing comedies is difficult as we have to focus on the humor and not the overall plot. But Saiki is different as it has actual plot progression. New characters are introduced or events occur that carry over to episodes after. The plot of Saiki follows an ultra powerful God level psychic named Saiki whom tries his best to conceal his powers from society and live a normal life while attending school. His powers include PK, Telepathy, teleportation, clairvoyance, invisibility, pyrokinesis, super strength and many many more. There really is no limit to Saiki's powers. No seriously, there isn't. He teleported an entire hotel into the middle of the ocean once and destroyed a meteor with ease, he also made the entire world believe that bright pink hair is natural and normal.

All of the powers exist for plot convience but Saiki could literally take over the world with ease if he desired.

Thoughout the show, he'll tell the audience how a power allows him to do such and such and the drawbacks it causes (like he can see how anything was made by touching it but he has to wear extremely thin gloves because of this ability 24/7) Saiki gives the audience a lot of context thoughout the show and acts as a narrator essentially.

Saiki hates his powers. He longs for a way to get rid of them. He has to wear special inhibitors on his head (that look like hair clips) to control his powers. If they're removed he will literally be able to turn back time or cause meteors to hit the earth.

Yes. Saiki is THAT powerful. I wasn't joking when I said God tier. Saiki could 1v1 Goku or Kuro-Sensei probably.

Also i would like to point out that not once does Saiki ever open his mouth during the show and seems to speaks entirely though telepathy (unknown to everybody around him).

But in reality, he really is just your average teenager who wants a normal life and that's the running joke of the show.

There are MANY other characters introduced thoughout the course of the show to the point where Saiki breaks the 4th wall and gets annoyed about it, here are a few and the most you'll be seeing:

Nendo: Saiki's best friend with the IQ of a brick. No wait..a brick is smarter then Nendo. He looks like a Yakuza/delinquent but is actually a kind hearted moron. Saiki can't even read his thoughts because there's nothing in there. Nendo is unpredictable so Saiki tries to avoid him as best as he can.

Kaido: your average highschooler who thinks he is special and different. He claims to be an Isekai called the jet black wings who was born into this world to stop a group called dark reunion, but in reality he's just a delusional coward with a hot mom.

Teruhashi: The most popular girl in school and the most attractive girl in the entire city/town basically. Possibly even the world. Has a crush on Saiki due to him not being interested in her.

Reita: the handsome 1st transfer student who can see ghosts and acts as a medium, however he is also a massive pervert. And by massive I mean massive. Even the ghosts find him creepy.

Hairo: The star athlete at the school who keeps trying to get Saiki to do his best thinks Nendo is his rival and constantly does more then what is needed (like dragging a tree to school because the store was closed and they needed wood for the festival a month away). Keeps showing his butt to the audience by mistake for some reason.

Aren: the 2nd transfer student who is a former biker delinquent but is trying to be a model student but can't help but lust for violence.

Chisato: The poorest girl in school who is so poor that words defy explanation. She works 8 part time jobs and wears other girl's clothing to gym class and is missing a lens on her glasses. Always hungry and is a glutton when sees food.

And thats just SOME of the characters. Not even talking about Saiki's idiotic father or hot mother. Or even delving into his Tsundere grandfather (yes seriously)

Saiki's personality is simply.. he is bored. He loves coffee jelly and video games. But he's bored because his powers basically give him no stress or responsibility. He plays life on easy mode

The format of the show usually follows Saiki trying to just have a normal day or normal routine at school but somebody like Nendo shows up or a new character is introduced that basically ruins his day. Theres always some dilemma that only saiki can solve. Saiki takes place over 2 years and runs in realistic time, there's episodes set during winter summer etc.

The humor of Saiki isn't difficult. It relies on slapstick type humor, repetitive and simple to grasp jokes (like dark reunion or saiki's love of coffee jelly).

The format of the episodes usually involve Saiki going about his day or he's at school and there comes a dilemma only saiki can solve with his powers.

One episode involves a plot where Saiki's friends show up to celebrate his birthday...but it's actually his father's birthday. So Saiki uses mind control to create the illusion that his father is him. His father plays along and pretend to be Saiki (and fails) but in the end, Saiki pretends it is his actual birthday and celebrates it with his friends to make them happy.

Another is Nendo being mistaken for a Pedophile or Saiki competing in the school festival.

The episodes almost always end on a heartwarming note or goofy situation. That's the disastrous life of Saiki K.

It's worth mentioning the episodes are split into 2 or 3 parts per 30 minutes. So you can easily binge the series.

The animation for Saiki is very cartoonish and fluid.

For the sound, I watched the sub. The dub is fine but I preferred the sub. Saiki and nendo's voice just sounded better and more fitting. The same music usually plays thoughout the episodes in the background.

Overall I VERY much recommend the life of Saiki K. It's absolutely hilarious and worth a watch!

It's comedy perfection and never gets old.
