Review of Parasyte: The Maxim
TL;DR Parasyte is a show about a teenage boy experiencing what it’s like to use his right hand for the first time! And I quite like it!! This is a non-spoiler review. Intro: When I started watching this show, I was taken back by the lack of a limiter on the gore. That and the EDM soundtrack blasting through every pore of your skin! It was a wild start and it doesn’t hesitate to get into the action. Story: 9 It isn’t the most breathtaking story ever but it sure is great and is one of my favourites! It is a unique twist on a horror genre whereit shows an average boy trying to get to grips with the not so average situation he’s found himself in! Going from just seeing the world close to him, how it affects his friends and family, to him being involved in a massive operation and on the run from greater powers than him the stakes are always high and an ending realisation that what we see is only small in comparison to what the whole world experiences and that what you experience means nothing.

While not being the most amazing looking art in the world it still gets across what it sets to achieve and then some!! The way the animation of the parasites move is honestly beautiful and every scene with a fight shows the enthusiasm put into making the show.
Sound: 8
As amazing as the sound is, the EDM is a bit overused. Every bit of tension in a fight has an EDM track and it really cuts off the feeling. I like it but sometimes it is misplaced. However, the ending is AMAZING!! And in a certain episode where it’s used I think it was the reason my water works started leaking.
Character: 9
The characters in this show are pretty well done, with the exception of Kana! They made Kana this bit prt of Shinichi’s life yet she leaves the show as quick as she came into it. Though there was also the hospital girl who had potential but Chad Shinichi just brushed her off!! But the writing of Shinichi is honestly outstanding!!! The anime did an amazing job of showing his progress through the show and how he develops. It makes you feel like you’ve known Shinichi for longer than 24 episodes!
Enjoyment: 10
I freaking love this show! I had such a fun time watching it and it’s led to this being one of my most rewatched show! Every time I see it I can just keep coming back for more but never need a second season. The race of my heart during certain scenes and the race of my tears in others shows my passion for this show and I hope everyone else feels the same.

Now this might not add up mathematically to be my average of all my scores but I honestly enjoyed this show so much I couldn’t rate it any other way. If you haven’t watched it I highly recommend you do. The show might not be for everyone but you’ll definitely remember it for a long time!!
