I've watched a lot of Donghuas. I like Donghuas. This show isn't all that different from your typical cultivation story where the MC obtains a lucky or fated opportunity (these vary) and he grows stronger at an increased speed (speed varies) compared to others. A big difference from usual Donghuas is that it's set in a modern environment (tall buildings, cars, phones etc) instead. The show went for one big plot that's unraveled throughout the show. It also breaks off at a decent point, compared to other shows that can cut off in the middle of a conversation... Still, I did not enjoy this type of plotdirection that much. Maybe because it wasn't done that well and felt like it dragged halfway through the show. I would've preferred a regular cultivation adventure with some more fanservice.
The MC isn't stupid but also not a genius. No complaints.
The animation is average or above average in terms of quality. A good way of measuring animation quality, I find, is to pay attention to how much detail has gone into the special effects.
Would recommend if you NEED something to watch. It's fine at best.
