The series tries to stray away from tropes. Even the "meditating/honing" trope you see in Chinese novels is handled quite well in my opinion. There are a few (tomboy in particular), but there is great character development even in the side characters. Despite consuming a ton of shonen and pop culture media, this series surprises me with more in-depth world-building and plot. The villains are not outright evil, nor is everything gray and ambiguous as if some attempt to make a comment on society or philosophy. Great action, lovable character(s). The art has only improved. There are varieties of weapons I would have to complain like the othersabout the... time skip. I can see how it was built into the story but it was too large and awkward of a time skip to throw in. It feels like the reader themself have lost time.
