Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle · review
Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle is a light novel I would highly recommend. With 20 volumes, the series is officially done. Slight spoilers ahead. Story: At first it seems like the generic mecha/school/harem type, with an overpowered MC. However the story progresses on by introducing complex antagonists which creates a deeper plot. The political drama is the main force of the plot, with the obvious relationships also driving home the story. The ideals presented by both sides are complex enough to engage the reader, so its not just as simple as good guy vs bad guy, even though it may seem so at first. The plot also spices thingsup with the usual betrayal and "not telling the whole story" thing that these LN's do. The fights are also engaging, especially when he goes against the girls later on in the series.
Characters:
All the girls are great in my opinion with even the female side character getting spotlights to shine. The main girls all seem to be the generic types: the sister (BroCon), the airhead, the tsundere, kuudere etc. But the push past these types and their growth and backstories is really good. Some heroines get more time with MC, however I can say that the ending is satisfactory. As stated before the antagonists aren't boring and and kept me hooked.
Art:
Character design is generic, with the mecha's also being pretty generic. There are some interesting character design however most of the characters are the usual design you get. The art was great until they changed illustrators and especially the last volume the art was pretty average.
Should I read this?:
If you have the time you should definitely read this to the end, as the progression of the story is something that amazed me.
