22/7 is pretty middle-of-the-road as far as idol anime go, but provides enough unique ideas to leave a positive impression by the end. The format of going into individual character backstories while tying them to the main storyline is a great way to get the audience attached to individual idols. The idea of The Wall is also a very compelling plot hook rather than using a traditional company or school to bring the girls together. Where the show faulters compared to its contemporaries is a lack of a compelling main plotline. The character backstories may be well-handled, but if you've seen any idol anime beforeyou'll be overly familiar with the main storyline (training arc, beach photoshoot, 2nd act breakup, etc.). There's nothing new there which can leave the middle of the show feeling bare-bones. Overall I'd say this show is entertaining enough to be worthwhile, but don't expect much more than you're average idol show.
