Review of Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX

Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX is the worst Gundam Title I've ever watched. It came across like a soulless ChatGPT prompt of the highlights from the Gundam Universe without any sort of understanding of why those titles succeeded. Slamming the most iconic character Char Aznable and doing jarring flashbacks made such little sense unless the point was pandering for nostalgia's sake. Even then, I don't see longtime Gundam fans enjoying the vibrant colors of the anime. It seems like Studio Khara leaned heavily into mecha fights since people enjoy them, even though the Clan battle fights serve no purpose except hearing a character say Kira-Kira. Thisfeints that the NewTypes are learning to pilot a Gundam in addition to running away from spending time to flesh out the story. And let's not forget having an empty-headed protegee character, because Mikazuki from Iron Blooded Orphans was like that and will surely help the anime tap into the cool and mysterious character market.

Lastly, since Witch from Mercury did it and the studios want to tap into the female market, let's insert a mostly female main cast and have not just 1 but both of them become infatuated with the nonchalant dreadhead. That way having high-school age Machu and Nyaan laying down on a Gundam is one of many scenes that don't come across as gooner content. Right…

There was no clear direction for the story, and the only takeaway is that someone connected to the project thought pandering to every demographic would ultimately prevail. GQuuuuuuX was a slap in the face for all Gundam fans and idiots who watched the whole thing like I did.
