Review of Blue Period

I watched Blue Period (Burū Piriodo), because of classics such as Food Wars! (Shokugeki No Soma), The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachino), In This Corner of the World (Kono Sakei No Katasumi Ni), Kuroko's Basketball (Kuroko No Basuke), or Grave of the Fireflies( Hotaru No Haka). Blue Period is a drama I have never seen done before in Anime, it is a subject taken seriously and doesn't fall into banal cliches that I would expect if was done by a western animation studio. Like other anime dramas, it took the subject of art and what it takes to be an artist very seriously. Although I am intothe history of Art and the biographies of Artists, I learned a thing or two about the methods, techniques, and concepts of making great art.

For some English speakers like myself, the subtitles can be a distraction, but as someone who is trying to study the Japanese Language, it is nice to watch Burū Piriodo (Blue Period) on its own terms.

A real treat to watch in all the plethora of anime full of androids and dragons (though Anime and Manga wouldn't be the genre without them), so Isay 8/10.
