Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
Frieren is an anime that's very pleasant to watch. I don't think Frieren has the best animation, best characters or best story but it doesn't have any major flaws either and is able to tell a calm story that you can't help but enjoy. Frieren's story is about an elf mage with a long lifespan going on a journey with some companions in a world where the main evil forces have been defeated. It's a pretty nice story that's told in a way that respects the viewer and doesn't feel the need to explain things that are obvious from context. The main driving force inthe story seems to be the limited lifespan of some of the human characters which leads to a relaxed pace and a calming watching experience.
The characters are alright. They aren't the most complicated characters you'll ever see but the way they interact is enjoyable to watch. The character's actions seemed reasonable and weren't annoying. The character names can be a bit silly if you know German since all character names are German words that are associated with the character in some way.
The animation overall is good and the environment in particular can look quite beautiful. The characters sometimes have fun expressions and the fight scenes look cool. The voice acting was good and the music was very good, it added a lot the atmosphere and had a positive influence on the way you experience lots of scenes.
Overall Frieren is definitely worth watching. It's an anime without major flaws that is calming and pleasant to watch. If you like fantasy settings then you should definitely watch this but even if you don't it can still be a great experience.
