Review of Akira

Quick take: Akira is a classic anime with great storyline, good characters and good artwork with a Blade Runner-esqe feel. Highly recommended. Akira is a classic anime I've seen come up in recommendations time and time again. I put it on and was treated to an anime that nails the 1980's sci-fi culture. In many ways, it feels a lot like Blade Runner. Here's a few things to know. The storyline, like Blade Runner, can be a bit difficult to follow at times. I feel like a lot of these types of movies gloss over basic plot points in the assumption that everyone watching will understand.Much like I had to read the synopsis of Blade Runner after watching it, I too had to do that here, although it only confirmed that I had truly understood everything.

Nonetheless, the story is great, the art is great, as well as the characters. The sound seemed to be the worst point in my opinion, but overall was always good.

Would highly recommend to those who like the quintessential 80's science fiction.
