I went in completely blank and bought it on a whim because I read GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka by the same writer. I had also read Rose Hip Rose after that, which wasn't very good, so I went in with low expectation, but this was turned around very quickly. The story works well with mystery, is very gory and packed with action. The first two volumes are super solid and deserve the rating of 8/10. These two volumes are used to establish the setting and characters, after which I expected it to become episodic. This kind of happened in the third volume, albeit with aweird leap that's not explained at all. The main characters all of the sudden don't work for the police anymore which is very weird, seeing as that was well set up. The third volume contained one episodic story, which was considerably less interesting than the first two volumes, due to the mystery component being completely gone. The ending was super random and made no real sense. I don't know what happened that made Tōru Fujisawa end it like this. I felt like the story had a lot of potential. It is weird that it did get a prequel, but sadly that hasn't been released in English, so I don't know if that helped tie up some lose ends.
All in all it's a short but enjoyable read. If you're a fan of gore, mystery and action it's definitely a recommendation.
