Review of Trigun
Trigun is quite the 90's anime filled with cliches, everything from tsundere falling in love with the main character, a random cat throughout the series, somewhat the new villian of the week plot setup, correcting your glasses always increases your IQpoints with at least 100 points etc etc etc. But how did the series manage to stay interesting despite all that? well the answer at least for me is two factors - 1: I never expected this series to be one of tip of the top! I was fully aware it was a drama comedy and not your heavy beast of series like monster, ghost in theshell, blue perfect etc. - 2: it is all about Vash, either you like him or not and without him the series is nothing really, and I liked him ;)
You might ask how can someone like a characters who is somewhat like the child of Alucard and Alexander from Hellsing in physical appearence, who has a goofy personality like Onizuka from the great teacher Onizuka and with the mysterious feel and past and skills like Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop.
Well the answer for me is pretty simpel, he is like your annoying best friend, whom you have a hate/love relationship with for his silliness and goofiness, but you cannot bring yourself to get rid of him, for inside he is true to himself and trying to be as good as possible, compassionated.
Vash does not really have that of an unique personality, there exist many characters with the strong pacifist nature. But what I like about this series is how he is challenged and he logically developes, he is nothing like Shirou from Fate/stay night who has the profound logic of "if you kill people, people die" and where Shirou has that really annoying way of pacifism.
So overall watch this anime in mind that this is not your mindblowing nor really deep (plotwise and cleavage ;) ) but it is all about the entertainment and Trigun understands how to perfectly combine drama with humor without ruining either aspect.
But of course it is an 90's anime, probably some will hate it for its animation but Madhouse still did it great animationwise when kickarseness came in ;)
peace and love!
ps that opening song and the "sad/serious" theme song... loved it!
