Review of Recovery of an MMO Junkie

This Anime was pleasant. You know those days when you want to watch something but aren't in the mood for anything too thrilling or convoluted? This is the anime is perfect for one of those days. The show has a simple and predictable plot. The protagonist is a single 30-year-old woman who becomes a shut-in after she quits her job (seemingly because of stress). She plays MMOs all day to run away from the real world eventually she and one of her online friends end developing feelings for each other after running into each other (literally) in the real world. One of the things Ireally like about this show is that it doesn't drag things out like other romance animes and the characters are actually able to figure things out when given the information and actually communicate. The characters are adults (not high schoolers) behaving like adults and reacting to situations in ways that actually make sense.

Morioka (the protagonist) and Sakurai (the love interest) were very endearing to watch and Koiwai (the mutual friend) was a fun character. I would have liked to see more of the secondary characters we see in the MMO but given this show is only 10 episodes I understand why they didn't get much development.

In short, this is a simple romance anime about MMO nerds and it’s very good for what it is. If you don't like romance anime in general or if you were expecting something over the top you might not like it.

Overall I gave this an 8 because while this show isn't anything spectacular it doesn't try to be and every episode put a smile on my face.
