After Legion Mate was so apocalyptically bad, I had to take a four month break from watching through Cardfight Vanguard to cleanse myself of that fourth season. But unfortunately time away did not make this season any better. Not only were the characters and the plot of this season exceedingly tiresome (the villains are a brainwashed cult lead by a narcissist with purple eyeliner and an equestrian area on the roof of a skyscraper), but they don’t even properly show off the fights in this season, it just cuts to random “important moments”. Not to mention this new gimmick of Striding which is incredibly dumband not fully explained.
The current era, D Series, isn’t perfect by any means, but it shows off fights the best and actively moves the story forward at a good pace. Any less than that in a Vanguard series and it’s ultimately a failure.
