Review of Tsukigakirei
Was on a long hiatus from anime and pick this up from a friend's advice, best decision ever! Although I'm late for giving this anime a review but I had to do it. The post effect of this anime is too strong! I'll try to give my best on reviewing this with no spoilers! Now, let's get into this hidden gem. First off, story. The story pacing is acceptable, some do find it a bit slow but it was just right. Sure, there might be a bit of beating around the bush at the beginning but it was alright. It's has a good introduction butthe flow of the story goes great after that. Every episode feels refreshing and of course, SWEET. The roller-coaster ride for every episode is never dull! I can get diabetes from this anime, seriously.
Onto art style, I like the main characters' design. Though at some scene the art might be a bit out of place but at the very least at some important scenes, they are polished. So there might be some inconsistent there. However, the art is still enjoyable.
The VA and songs are good. The main characters VA seems very well describing the character. For eg. Kotarou is a quiet and shy guy so the soft sound of his when talking suits him. I can't really judge much on art and sound as I'm not really an expert in judging them but none the less, I enjoyed them.
Now the best part, character's development. Perfect. Instead of putting the audience straight into the characters knowing one another and flashing back and forth to the past and present to tell us about their background. The anime starts off with both main characters did not know each other at all but they tend to get curious towards one another. I felt like this kind of development suits my taste, start from blank slate and move on from there.
As the anime goes on, they did not rush the development but instead here's where opinion splits, you either feel the pacing is too slow and redundant OR you feel the progression is at its normal satisfactory speed. I'm the later and I truly enjoy such pacing. However, I definitely did not feel anything is rushed inside, but maybe its just me.
Now, I'm just talking about two main characters development. Here comes a rather bad point which is, there's almost no development with OTHER characters. (Maybe there is a little bit but its almost to none) Its always about both of them so you have to be prepared for this if you are not a fan of such development! For one I feel this is not a bad point, the main point of the anime is about the romance of this couple, but don't get me wrong , they do interact with their friends and there are obstacles but they are not as memorable as this couple that constantly supplying free sugar.
Lastly, did I enjoy this journey? I sure am! It was hard to say good bye to this anime once I finished it (and I'm not gonna comment how I really feel about the ending, but its almost similar to the majority in the episode discussion, I try not to give out too much too), but it was a fun ride. Thanks for the great time, Tsuki ga Kirei!
TL;DR: If you like romance, drama OR slice of life, pick this up immediately and don't put it down until you finish. And once you are done, get your sugar level check. Definitely fun to watch, recommended! 10/10
